Surrounding Blakebeck Farm are lots of quiet country lanes, which you cyclists will love, and an array of lovely local walks for those of you on foot. Many famous Lake District peaks are within easy driving distance of Blakebeck; with Blencathra, Scafell Pike & Helvellyn offering the backdrop to the farm you won’t be short of a good day out on the fells! Only a short drive away, you will find the market town of Keswick, Ullswater Lake & Aira Force Waterfalls.

2 miles from the farm you will find yourself in the centre of Mungrisdale Village, there are some beautiful walks around the village, where you can end up at the Mill Inn pub & restaurant for a pint afterwards.

Walking

A great walk around Keswick, is to head on down to Derwent Water. You can catch the Keswick Launch Boat to various stops along the shore & walk back. Combining a walk & cruise in one.


Ullswater is a short drive away and offers spectacular scenery, challenging walks. Ullswater is the Lake District’s second largest lake, it twists through dramatic mountain scenery on one side, and a gently curving shoreline on the other.  There are water sports available on the lake shore including several venues offering sailing.  The  launch with its steamers offers nostalgia and a gentle way to enjoy the scenery.

Glenridding on the south western shore of Ullswater, is the start of the famous trek to Helvellyn’s summit via Striding Edge.  Pooley Bridge with its quaint tea shops, is on the northern shore of Ullswater and offers great climbing on Gowbarrow Cragg.
